12/03/2007 | End of Semester
I can't believe the semester is almost over! This is my last week of regular classes, and finals start next week. It will be nice to spend time with family and friends over Christmas break. Time to start studying... Good luck to the finalists! |

10/22/2007 | Homecoming Weekend
Homecoming Weekend was action-packed. The Founder's Day Convocation was Friday afternoon, while Friday night kicked off the Food Village, where different organizations built the entire Wesleyan Campus out of canned goods donated to the Upshur County Parish House. This was probably my favorite event of the weekend; it was amazing to see a miniature Wesleyan campus and it was for such a great cause-4,629 non-perishable food items were donated! The homecoming parade was Saturday, followed by a picnic lunch and the football game against Shepherd. A very large amount of Alumni were present for the weekend's events. |

10/01/2007 | Family Weekend
This weekend was Family Weekend, so the college had lots of activities. My parents came up for the day on Saturday. We had lunch, went to the football game, and got our picture taken for a foto funscope. Saturday night was Wesleyan Idol, a favorite for all the students here. 10 students competed for the title, and the winner received $250!
Overall, the weekend was pretty exciting, but not long enough. I still had to squeeze in time for studying. |

09/21/2007 | Fourth Week
I attended my first freshman council meeting this week, which is a lot like student council in high school. We are the voice of the freshman class and have to begin fundraising already for our senior project, in which we are to "leave our mark" in some way here at Wesleyan. Besides that, this week has been pretty basic- homework, athletic events, and more meetings. I'm looking forward to the weekend because one of the movies the Campus Activities Board is showing is "Georgia Rule." I've wanted to see this for a while, and even better, it's free! |

09/14/2007 | Third Week
It's hard to believe that tomorrow will make one month that I have been living here at Wesleyan!
This week I had my first test in two of my classes and they both went very well. College classes are quite a change from high school, and I've realized how much more you really do have to study. However, the professors are very willing to help and some even set up study or review sessions outside of class the night before a test, which have been very helpful to me.
I also started lacrosse practice along with several other girls who have never played before, and we are slowly learning the basics.
On Tuesday night Wesleyan hosted a "College Success Panel" for the freshmen. Upperclassmen were present to answer any questions we have so far about school. It's nice to be able to talk to students who have already gone through what I am right now.
Wesleyan will end the week Friday with a nationally-known speaker, Julian Bond. He is currently chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and civil rights and economic justice activist.

08/31/2007 | Second Week
My second week of school was just as busy with the Honors Picnic, club meetings, classes, and homework.
So far, I love it here! The professors are very friendly and helpful, Buckhannon actually isn’t as boring as they say, and the cafeteria food isn’t too bad either!

08/24/2007 | First Week
The first week of school was action-packed. My classes went very well and there was plenty to do to keep me busy. On Wednesday a cookout was held for all freshmen, followed by a Campus Organizational Fair on Thursday, which showcased all the clubs and activities Wesleyan has to offer. I signed up for the Campus Activities Board which helps to create exciting events on campus so students always can find something to do. I also joined the lacrosse team, which I know absolutely nothing about! I finished up my week on Friday night with Wesleyan’s Price is Right, a favorite for all students. One student won a 42” plasma screen T.V.! |

08/18/2007 | Orientation
Saturday started the actual orientation, which was very helpful to me. I learned basic college survival skills and found out more about the city of Buckhannon. Sunday afternoon I parted ways with my parents, which was a little difficult at first, but I’m adjusting well. |

08/15/2007 | Freshman Pre-orientaton
I arrived at West Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday, August 15 for the freshman pre-orientation camping and white-water rafting trip, which was a blast! We rafted on the New River for two days, camped out, and learned about WVWC and each other. I made a few very close friends on the trip, including my roommate. It was an easy transition into college life. |
